The Embrace

The courtship greeting of northern gannets is one of the most deeply expressive rituals in the natural world. To emphasize the beautiful, interlocking symmetry of their movement, I intentionally edited this image using a high-key technique in post-processing. By carefully stripping away the background cliffs and sea spray, the final frame reduces the birds to clean, fluid curves and sharp profiles, turning a fleeting behavioural interaction into a timeless piece of fine art.
