Guardian of the Marsh

Chasing the light along the North Norfolk coast often means waiting out the grey, unpredictable weather until the landscape reveals its true character. I set up my camera on the marsh bank at Cley-next-the-Sea, waiting for the fast-moving storm clouds to frame the old mill perfectly. By stripping out the colour in post-processing, I wanted to draw complete focus to the stark contrast between the bright, wind-whipped reeds in the foreground and the dark, imposing presence of the sails. This frame documents a timeless moment of architectural history, captured from the quiet edge of the fens.
