Force of the Atlantic

When the colour is stripped away, you are left with nothing but pure kinetic energy. I spent an afternoon on Lanzarote's western edge, tracking the swell as it hit the black volcanic shelves. I wanted to capture the violent explosion of a single, heavy wave as it burst against the jagged rock face. By using an incredibly fast shutter speed, I caught the water frozen mid-blast, highlighting the sharp contrast of brilliant white spray against deep black stone shadows.
