Broken Defences

This shot required waiting out a brutal, biting winter wind on Happisburgh beach as a massive storm cell rolled off the North Sea. I set my tripod incredibly low to the wet sand, deliberately timing a long exposure to capture the sea water rushing violently past the splintered timber. By freezing the water into a ghostly, misty blur, I wanted to contrast the chaotic movement of the tide against the raw, jagged permanence of the rusted iron bolts and broken wood.
