Atlantic Explorer

Watching a northern gannet cut through a fierce sea gale is one of the most magnificent sights on the UK coast. Standing on an exposed clifftop overlook, I tracked this lone explorer as it leaned hard into the wind, cutting low across the dark ocean. The low evening sun caught the distinct golden wash on its head, contrasting sharply against the rich, deep blues of the churning North Sea water below.
